Multiple Intelligences revisited is an updated and revised version of two previously published eBooks, Basic Multiple Intelligences for EFL Teachers [Palmsoft Publications 2010] and Activities and Exercises for Logical-Mathematical Learners of English [Palmsoft Publications 2009].

Its first three chapters provide basic information about Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences (MI) Theory. More specifically, Chapter One deals with different intelligence types, typical learner characteristics, and MI profiles. Chapter Two suggests ways in which language teachers can get started with MIs, for example by identifying MI profiles (their own as well as those of their students) and by choosing appropriate classroom activities for specific learner types. Chapter Three gives guidelines for the preparation of language lessons that fulfil the wanted teaching goals and at the same time cater for different kinds of learners.

Chapters Four, Five, and Six present three detailed lesson plans that demonstrate how teachers can cater optimally for learners with different MI profiles during a language lesson and at the same time create a learning environment in which students feel secure and relaxed. The topics in focus are occupations, houses, and Christmas.

Chapter Seven is aimed specifically at one intelligence type, i.e. logical-mathematical learners. It comprises a collection of activities and exercises (often with photocopiable worksheets) of various types and levels of difficulty. Some activities involve the finding and identification of existing words or the understanding of select texts and sentences. Others focus on the development of learners’ critical thinking skills and their ability to explore and understand multiple-meaning words and riddles. Although the activities are intended for learners of EFL, many of the ideas can be used with learners of other target languages.

Chapter Eight, finally, is an attempt at summarising the current state of the art.
